My son Banyan has declared on more than one occasion, he would like to own his own smoothie business when he is an adult. The sarcastic part of me thinks, “way to shoot for the stars kid,” while the more evolved part of myself says, “whatever makes you happy.” Who am I to say anything? He could become the next Jamba Juice tycoon for all I know. If Tony Hawk’s mom had told him to forget about skateboarding, I’m not so sure he would have been as successful in another career. I can’t quite picture Tony in an office cubicle, can you? So, it is with this mindset I turn to Banyan each and every time he shares this gem with me and say, “you will make the best darn smoothies ever kid.”
Banyan and I have been making smoothies together for a few years. He actually has a great palate for a mini chef. He can easily detect and name ingredients, noticing subtle nuances often instantly. Out of the dozens of recipes we have tested, “Banyan’s Smoothie”continues to top the charts. The great thing about this “kid approved” recipe is, the ratio of fruit to juice creates a perfect smoothie consistency. Not too thick and not too thin. Moms, Dads and adults 21 and over, feel free to add a shot of rum – a lovely elixir for your lazy weekend mornings.
